KOMPERDELL

The Komperdell company was founded in Vienna in 1922. It produced hiking poles from hazelnut wood. In 1928, it already employed 50 employees. Not long after that, it became the leading producer of ski poles.

Aluminum hiking poles

In the 1970s, production increased to more than 150,000 pairs of clubs per year. They began to produce sticks made of aluminum, which were much lighter than made of wood.

New materials and systems

In the 1990s, extra light poles made of the new Carbon material came onto the market. New efficient systems such as e.g. Anti-shock ON/OFF and Contour Grip.
