JanSport backpacks have a long tradition. The brand comes from Washington, USA and was founded in the 1960s by three friends. The name of the brand even bears the name (Jan) after one of the founding members, whose backpack design was a great success in the beginning. From the beginning, the backpacks were tested in the field, in nature. Later they were also discovered by students who liked their design and the brand developed a special edition of SuperBreak school backpacks.

30 Year Backpack Warranty - Limited Warranty Policy and Guidelines
For over 50 years, JanSport has been designing backpacks that last , so you can go wherever you want, see what you want and wear what you need. The Jansport brand stands behind the quality and durability of every backpack it produces . And since it's been doing it since 1967, it's a guarantee you can count on.
The company manufactures products to last for a longer period of use, but at the same time understands that everything eventually wears out . So when your backpack wears out, as everything wears out, you'll know you've gotten the most out of your gear and your experiences.

What does a defect in material, component and workmanship mean?
Materials and components include zippers, buckles and fabrics. Processing means seams and construction. Defects in materials, components or processing are covered by a warranty of up to 30 years from the purchase of the product.
What exactly does the warranty cover?
The 30-year warranty on JanSport products can be claimed by the original owner of the product or a person who received a JanSport brand product as a gift. The warranty is valid for up to 30 years from the purchase of the product.
Often used (and loved!) products will inevitably wear out over time - textiles will deteriorate and colors will fade.
What is not covered by the warranty?
The warranty covers all defects and malfunctions until the JanSport backpack has been used and worn beyond reasonable repair.
This warranty does not cover normal wear and tear or the natural breakdown of colors and materials over time and use.
Normal wear and tear generally means wear and tear caused by the expected use of a backpack or rucksack over a longer period of time. There are several factors that determine the end of "product life", including the following:
Fabric - if the fabric is stained, degraded, delaminated or damaged, it is the end of the product's life:
- bleached fabric
- degraded fabric
- layered fabric
- degraded fabric
If a major component fails due to long-term use (such as a handle, suitcase wheel or zipper), the product is considered to have reached its full useful life and is at the end of its life cycle. These are, for example:
- the handle
- wheel(s)
- zipper
- buckles
- seams
- construction
