The Arena brand was created by the sports visionary Horst Dassler, the son of the founder of Adidas and the president of Adidas France. In 1972 in Munich, Dassler was at the summer games when Mark Spitz won 7 gold medals. Dassler immediately began drawing up plans for the company's swimwear, designed for water sports and creating a new performance swimwear brand known today as Arena.
