Ski mountaineering is a winter sport that combines free skiing, climbing skills and navigation . Its beginnings date back to the 19th century, when people from the Alpine countries moved down from the mountains on skis to earn a living. Gradually it became a popular activity and today it is very popular all over the world . Ski alpinism already has its supporters in Slovakia. The best conditions for this sport in our country are in the High and Low Tatras, but fans of this sport can also be found in Veľká and Mala Fatra . If you don't want to stand in a long line for the lift, let yourself be tempted by this increasingly popular sport, which will give you a feeling of freedom, discovering new places and endlessly beautiful views.
If you like skiing, but would like to try something new, with more adrenaline, try ski mountaineering . However, it is necessary to realize that it is a physically demanding sport, the greater part of which consists of stepping uphill . At the end, however, newly discovered places await you and the inner feeling that you have overcome yourself and your own limits. If you also want to be an excellent ski alpinist, you should have :

As the weather in the mountains is changeable and the sun is harsh, clothing should also be easy to store. For this, you need to take a practical skialp rucksack or skialp backpack with you, where everything you need can fit. And don't forget the sunscreen.
