SPALDING

The Spalding brand is named after its founder, who was baseball player Albert Goodwill Spalding . He began his career in 1871 and played every game with a baseball he developed himself. In 1876, the first sporting goods store under the AG Spalding & Brothers brand was opened in Chicago.

The brand has always been dedicated to the production of balls and balls for various sports, such as:

• later also volleyball

• golf

The portfolio also included baseball gloves and baseball bats.

Basketball as the main sport

In 1894 , Spalding developed its first basketball . It later became the official ball of this emerging game and almost a hundred years later the official ball of the NBA .
