Climbing straps are accessories that are attached to the lower part of skis. These belts make it easier to go uphill on snow . Climbing belts have a special layer that sticks to the snow in only one direction and thus prevents backward sliding.

What are climbing belts made of?

In the past, seal skin was used for climbing belts, hence the name seal belts. Today, climbing belts for skialp skis are made from various other materials, such as:

• mohair

• nylon

• or a combination thereof

Types of skialp belts

Individual climbing or skialp belts may differ depending on the manufacturer in terms of material, fastening method or shape . Some of the common types of risers are:

• adhesive strips - they are strips that have glue on the back that sticks to the ski. They are strong, durable and easy to set up.

• non-glue strips - they are strips that do not have glue, but a special surface treatment that sticks to the ski. They are lighter, more breathable and easier to clean.
